Fishing Weekend Suggested Packing List
See pages 203, 207 and 224-227 of the old Boy Scout Handbook or 292-293 of
the new Boy Scout Handbook
Clothing:
- Comfortable shorts
- Bathing suit
- Long pants
- Extra t-shirt
- Change of underwear
- Socks (2 spare pairs)
- Sleepwear
- Sweatshirt or jacket
- Hat with visor
- Rain Gear
- Sneakers/hiking boots
- Water shoes or old sneakers to stand in the water and fish (no bare
feet)
Sleeping:
- Bedding
- Pillow
- Sleeping bagGround pad (optional)
- Mosquito netting (required to sleep in Adirondack)
Personal Items:
- Toilet Articles
- Toothbrush and paste
- Hand sanitizer
- Brush or comb
Miscellaneous:
- Flashlight or headlamp (with spare batteries)
- Scout handbook
- Pen, pencil, notebook or pad
- Sunscreen
- Insect repellant
- An adult to help paint the cabin during the day on Saturday
- Equipment
- Water bottle (1 liter, full)
- Mess kit—unbreakable cup, bowl, knife, fork, spoon
- PFD (life jacket)—Optional, there will be canoes available
- Canoe or kayak (if you have one)
- Worms or whatever you want to use for bait
- Fishing pole
- Tackle box (bobbers, hooks, line, lures, sinkers)
Optional Items:
- Camera
- Musical instrument
- Folding camp chair
Important:
- Scout Spirit
- Medication-to be handed in to leaders with clear instructions
- Cash for food given to adult leaders at arrival ($10 cash only, no
checks please)
- Bag lunch for Saturday
- A Snack to share for Saturday night (pretzels, popcorn, chips, cookies,
etc.)
- Tents, cooking gear, and food for Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast
is provided
Fishing licenses for Rhode Island residents age 15 and older are available
for $18 at bait and tackle shops, Wal-Mart, or online at
https://www.ri.gov/DEM/fishinglicense/
