Troop 1 Richmond will
attend Camp Sandy Beach and will stay at the Campsite Backwoods. Backwoods is a
five-minute walk from the Camp Sandy Beach dining hall. The sleeping areas
consist of 7 Adirondack shelters (wooden 3 sided roofed structures with an open
front) and several platform tents. Each Adirondack sleeps a maximum of 4 scouts
and each tent sleeps a maximum of 6 scouts on sling cot bunk beds. A minimum of
two scouts must share a shelter or platform tent. At least two of the sleeping
areas are reserved for the adult leaders. These are separate from the scouts’
sleeping areas but close enough to solve problems should they arise during the
night. Backwoods also has a campfire pit, a flagpole for daily flag ceremonies,
picnic tables, a water spigot for drinking water and a bathroom building which
has two composting toilet latrines and a urinal plus running water, soap and
paper towels for hand washing and teeth brushing. |
