Footlockers

Each scout will need a durable, lockable footlocker approximately 3 feet long x 2 feet wide x 1½ feet high. Sturdy plastic footlockers are available at department stores such as Wal-Mart made by brands such as Rubbermaid. (Rubbermaid sells a 35 gallon “Action Packer” cargo box that is 34.5x18.5x16.375 inches.) Parents have found these at Wal-Mart, Target, Scouts will also need a padlock or combination lock since the footlockers must be locked at all times when the scout is not at the campsite. A spare key labeled with the scout’s name or the combination to the lock must be turned in to the scoutmaster at the meeting site. To avoid losing keys, a soft, durable necklace is recommended for each scout to carry his key around his neck.
